OVERHEAD CRANE SAFETY AND PROFICIENCY TRAINING
Course Introduction
This 2-day program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of crane operators in safe operation, handling, and maintenance of overhead cranes (hand-controlled, pendant, cabin-operated, remote-controlled, clamp or magnet). Improper use and lack of know-how often lead to accidents, injuries, fatalities, and costly damages. This training helps prevent such incidents while improving efficiency, productivity, and safety performance.

- To prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage caused by unsafe crane operations.
- To instill correct operating habits and safety awareness among crane operators.
- To ensure compliance with OSHA 1994 and FMA 1967
- To improve operator competency through a balance of theory and practical training.

Lessons Module
Day 1:
- Introduction to OSHA 1994 & FMA 1967 requirements
- Crane operator responsibilities, dogger & signalman roles
- PPE and safety awareness
- Types of cranes and components
- Safe handling and operation procedures
- Rigging & lifting safety: sling inspection, load calculation, SWL formula
- Worksite safety, hazard identification & communication (hand signals)
Day 2:
- Rope & knot techniques
- Crane inspection checklist (cab, boom, load block, outriggers, safety devices)
- Theoretical assessment
- Practical demonstration & individual assessment (slinging, lifting, maneuvering)
- Q&A, final evaluation & feedback
