FORKLIFT SAFETY TRAINING
Course Introduction
Forklift accidents are a leading cause of workplace injuries in industrial settings. This training equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to operate forklifts safely, in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Amendment 2022). The program covers hazard awareness, equipment inspection, risk management, and emergency response through both theory and practical sessions.

- Conduct daily safety inspections and basic maintenance of forklifts.
- Apply best practices in forklift operation and load handling.
- Identify hazards and perform risk assessments using HIRARC.

Lessons Module
Day 1 – Theory & Hazard Identification
- Introduction to Forklift Safety – accident trends & case studies
- Legal Compliance – OSHA 1994 (Amendment 2022), ISO 45001, penalties
- Forklift Components & Pre-use Checks – systems overview, safety checklist
- HIRARC for Forklift Activities – hazard spotting & group risk assessment
Day 2 – Practical & Assessment
- Safe Driving Techniques & Load Handling – stability triangle, ramps, tight spaces
- Traffic Management & Pedestrian Safety – route planning, signage, separation
- Practical Session – inspection, safe driving demo, hazard avoidance
- Emergency Response & Assessment – spill/fire response, operator competency test
