EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES AND FIRE DRILL TRAINING

Course Introduction

Emergencies can happen at any time, and a well-prepared Emergency Response Team (ERT) is essential to minimize risks to people, the community, the environment, and company assets. This training equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond effectively through fire drills, rescue operations, and evacuation procedures.

Objectives

  • Strengthen participants’ understanding of emergency preparedness
  • Provide hands-on skills in fire suppression, evacuation, and rescue techniques
  • Familiarize participants with fire safety systems, equipment, and procedures
  • Enhance teamwork and coordination during emergency response

  • Safety officers, coordinators, and OSH committee members
  • Managers and supervisors involved in workplace safety
  • Personnel responsible for accident investigation, safety planning, or inspections

Lessons Module

Day 1

  1. Establishment of the ERT Team: functions, roles, and responsibilities
  2. How to conduct fire drills and fire training
  3. Introduction to fire incidents, triangle of fire, fire spread & elimination techniques
  4. Fire classes and their characteristics
  5. Firefighting systems: passive & active protection awareness
  6. Rescue procedures: correct techniques, with/without equipment (practical)
  7. Victim rescue demonstration and DR.ABC awareness

Day 2

  1. Fire extinguisher training: types, usage, inspection & maintenance (practical)
  2. Building evacuation procedures: fire drill, emergency plan, means of escape
  3. Emergency classes (Class 1, 2 & 3): identification & response actions
  4. Emergency fact-finding and decision-making
  5. Hose handling & marching training (H1, H2, H3)
  6. Practical use of fire extinguishers and fire suppression exercises
